Tips for Buying the Perfect Wig
March 19, 2018Wigs have many functional uses, namely when a women want to change her style for a special occasion or event, but also to cover and conceal thinning chair or a balding due to cancer or other serious condition. Before investing in a wig, here are some tips to keep in mind to help you find the perfect wig.
What to look for
Wigs have many different styles and price ranges. The pricier the wig is, the better quality. However, shop around and check online feedback and reviews of wig merchant. If you invest in a quality hair piece, you should expect years of good wear.
Why buy a Quality Hair Piece
When deciding to purchase a wig, you should understand how you plan to use it. Inexpensive wig hairpieces are also not finely wefted (wefting means the sewing of the hair to a net that you put on your hair). That means that more hair is sewn into one weft of the wig instead of distributed throughout the wig evenly resulting in a baby doll hair look if you’re not careful. If the wig is for a one or two-time special occasions during the year, you can get away with a lesser quality piece as it will not have a lot of wear and tear that will allow it to last longer. Keep in mind when you purchase inexpensive wigs, they will almost always be synthetic and may be harder to match your hair color if you buy a partial wig. Also, keep in mind as stated, inexpensive wigs just are not made as well so be prepared to be gentle handling them even with low use.
Synthetic Wigs
If you are looking to style a wig, synthetic is not very flexible. You can not color, or curl it with heat as it will melt. This means that your styling options with an inexpensive synthetic wig are limited.
Real Human Hair Wigs
If you want flexibility and a truly natural look, a wig made of human hair is the way to go. Natural hair wigs are versatile and durable particularly if you plan on wearing it often. Human hair wigs are more expensive, but they pay for themselves over time. They are flexible in that you can color, cut, curl and perm it just like your real hair. Additionally really human hair wigs look natural in sunlight, while synthetic wigs sometimes look unnatural in sunlight.
Natural hair wigs to vary widely in price and quality. They vary according to quality and length of the hair. Longer hair cost more and may be more expensive due to the better-made brands.
Look for wig hairpieces that are finely weaved and light. The wig should allow air to circulate through the wig and onto the scalp. This is for comfort and the well being of your hair underneath. It also provides an opportunity for your hair to breath while wearing the wig. Wigs should be comfortable and should feel natural.
Before buying a wig, investigate all of your options carefully. Choosing a good quality wig may save you money in the long run because you will probably never have to replace it.
